Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater
Depart from Arusha and travel to Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its spectacular wildlife. Descend into the crater for a game drive, where you’ll spot the Big Five and other iconic species such as flamingos, hyenas, and wildebeest. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool before continuing your exploration of the crater. Return to the crater rim and settle into your lodge or camp for the night.
Day 2: Ngorongoro to Mara River (Serengeti Ecosystem)
After breakfast, travel to the Mara River, located in the Serengeti ecosystem, which plays a crucial role in the Great Migration. The river is famous for its dramatic crossings by wildebeest, zebras, and other animals during migration season. Spend the afternoon witnessing the breathtaking migration spectacle as predators such as crocodiles and lions wait for their chance. Return to your lodge or tented camp for a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Full Day at Mara River (Serengeti Ecosystem)
Spend the day at the Mara River, watching the continuous action of the migration as herds of wildebeest cross the river and predators lie in wait. The Mara River is a hub for dramatic wildlife moments, providing unforgettable safari memories. Enjoy the chance to spot predators, prey, and a variety of bird species. Head back to your accommodation for dinner and your second night near the river.
Day 4: Full Day at Mara River (Serengeti Ecosystem)
Continue your exploration of the Mara River area, where the drama of the migration unfolds daily. With plenty of time for game drives, you’ll have the chance to track predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, as well as witness the river crossings. Lunch will be provided during your game drive, and the day concludes with a sundowner at your lodge or camp.
Day 5: Mara River to Lake Eyasi (Cultural Experience)
After breakfast, travel to Lake Eyasi for a full day of cultural experiences. Meet the Hadzabe tribe, renowned for their traditional hunting and gathering lifestyle. Join them for a morning hunt and learn about their ancient practices. Later, visit the Datoga tribe to observe their metalworking and blacksmithing techniques. Spend the evening immersed in the serenity of Lake Eyasi, then stay at a nearby lodge or camp.
Day 6: Lake Eyasi to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions, diverse birdlife, and beautiful landscapes. Explore the park's varied habitats, including lakeshores, acacia woodlands, and groundwater forests. Spot elephants, flamingos, and other wildlife while enjoying scenic views of the Great Rift Valley. After a picnic lunch, continue your exploration before driving to Lake Natron for the evening.
Day 7: Lake Natron’s Surreal Landscapes and Return to Arusha
Start the day with a visit to Lake Natron, known for its eerie beauty and the pink flamingos that nest along its shores. Take a walk around the lake’s unique landscape, with volcanic mountains in the background. Visit nearby waterfalls for a refreshing dip before enjoying a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, head back to Arusha, where your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or airport for onward travel.
